All of our printers are on a minimum rental term of 7 days. There is no maximum rental term.
The printer will be sent securely packaged with all the required cables and a disc or USB stick containing the printer drivers. We will also include enough cleaning cards for your requirements.
You will also get a 30-minute phone call to assist you with setting up the equipment and card design to enable you to start printing. This must be booked with our Sales team at the time of making the rental booking.
If you require additional technical support, it is charged at £15 per 15 minutes during our office hours of 9am - 6pm, Monday-Friday. Technical support required outside these times is charged at £30 per 15 minutes.
Our printers are packaged in their original boxes. Please let us know if you need a carry case or flight case instead.
Depending on the complexity of your print job, it may be advisable to use special card management software to set up the card design and to pull in the data from your database. We can advise you on the best software for your requirements and operating system.
Our 7-Day Rental Licence allows you to benefit from this software without the financial outlay of a full licence. You can save your card designs on a local machine ready for use with the card management software in the future. This is ideal if you run the same event year after year and want a similar card design or if you have annual enrolments or issuance of ID cards.
Our turnkey package includes a laptop preloaded with everything you need to switch on and get running and we can even supply staff to run the system for you at your event.
If your job is time sensitive or you don’t have time to set up a badge design in CardExchange then we can supply you with a laptop, already loaded with your card design, so you just need to plug in the printer, load your data and start printing.
Using our rental laptop also means you don't have to worry about installing printer drivers and card management software on your own computer or laptop, a process that can be especially time consuming and problematic if you don't have the admin rights on your work machines.
We ensure that the laptop is wiped of all data when it is returned to us, in case you forget to do this, so your data remains secure and isn't accidentally passed on to the next user.
The laptop comes complete with a tough Peli case for easy and secure transportation.
At the end of every hire, our printers are thouroughly checked, cleaned tested and prepared for the next job including runnning any required updates prior to being sent out again. We regularly replace our printers with newer models ensuring our 'hire fleet' is upto date.
Yes. You will need to follow the cleaning cycle instructions as per the printer. This varies depending on the printer and print job. Cleaning cards will be provided to enable you to do this very simple job. Please note that we may need to charge a maintenance/repair fee if cleaning cycles are not completed. Printers will also need to be returnbed to us free of excess dirt and any damage - any damged discovered on a post hire inspection will be chargable.
Yes we include outbound and return shipping in the hire cost. Please note that this only includes one delivery attempt so please ensure that someome is available to accept delivery and that we are given accurate delivery details. If the printer is returned to us due to the courier being unable to deliver, then we will charge an additional £25 plus VAT for re-delivery.
We can only rent ID card printers to limited companies and organisations that can prove a legitimate need for printing on plastic cards. Industry legislation requires that we perform checks on anyone wishing to hire an ID card printer. If we suspect any fraudulent activity, we must report it to the Metropolitan Police under Project Genesius.
As everyone's printing requirements are different, Consumables (Cards & Ribbons) are charged seperatley as per your needs, this allows us to only provide the shape and size of cards you need, and the inks you actually require allowing us to keep costs down and reduce wastage.
Yes - we have a limited number of XL printers available for hire allowing printing on cards upto 140mm x 87.8mm.
You have the right to cancel the rental. However, a charge shall be applied based on the notice given.
Should the booking be cancelled 7 days before the period of hire was to commence, then a charge of 25% of the hire charge will be made.
If made within 48 hours of the date when the period of hire was to commence, the hirer shall be liable to pay the company a cancellation charge of 50% of the hire charge.

- Should the equipment not be returned to us by the end of the agreed rental period, or is not available for collection by our courier on the agreed date, then the daily rate will continue to accrue. If the equipment is not returned to us within 30 days of the agreed return date, then the full RRP will be charged on top of the rental cost.
- Blackdown Group Ltd supports Project Genesius, the Metropolitan Police initiative to counter crime in the printing industry. We can only supply printers for rental to bona fide limited companies, charitys or events evidence of which may be requested prior to acceptance of your order.

The hire charge includes return shipping, so all you need to do is tell us in the comments field of your order where you would like it to be collected from and any special instructions for collection and we will arrange for a courier to collect it at the end of the rental period.
To ensure maximum protection of your data, please securely destroy any used printer ribbons at the end of your hire period and wipe the laptop of any personal data.
However don’t worry if you do forget to so this as we will do this as part of our post-hire checks.
Yes, we can do a negotiated rate for extended hire or multiple printer hire. Please contact us to discuss this.
All of our printer rentals include a 30 minute phone call to assist you with setting up the equipment and card design to enable you to start printing. This is why we ask you to receive and test the printer at least 2 working days before you need to start printing, so that we can help with the set up in good time.
It is also possible for us to remote on to your PC or laptop and help with the set up. Please ensure that you book your 30 minute slot with our sales team at the time of making your equipment booking.
